Built on ten years of academic and industry research into monitoring and analyzing online media and Web-based information systems, webLyzard was founded in 2008. The company has its academic roots at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, the University of Western Australia, the University of California at Berkeley, Graz University of Technology, University of Applied Sciences Chur and MODUL University Vienna.

Management Team

Prof Dr Arno Scharl is the Vice President of MODUL University Vienna, where he heads the Department of New Media Technology. Prior to his current appointment, he held professorships at the University of Western Australia and Graz University of Technology, was a Key Researcher at the Austrian Competence Center for Knowledge Management, and a Visiting Fellow at Curtin University of Technology and the University of California at Berkeley. He completed his doctoral research and habilitation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. Additionally, he holds a PhD and MSc from the University of Vienna, Department of Sports Physiology.

Prof Dr Albert Weichselbraun is a Professor of Information Science at the University of Applied Sciences Chur.  He held a position as an Associated Professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and was a Visiting Research Fellow and later a Visiting Professor at the University of Western Australia. His habilitation thesis focused on “Automated Structuring and Analysis of Electronic Content through Ontologies and Semantic Methods”. Dr Weichselbraun leads webLyzard’s technical development, with a special focus on the analytical methods involved. Apart from his academic work he actively participates in the improvement of related open-source products.
